Re: Q68 New users and general usage thread

The 4Gb SDHC cards are actually more than you can buy 16's for when I looked on Amazon / ebay - for known good brands. My guess is these are driven by the portable device market and cameras, so higher storage capacity cards are in greater demand and consequently a better seller for the makers.

As ...

Re: Q68 New users and general usage thread

Out of interest, does it make much difference whether the card is type 4 or type 10, given the relatively small file sizes for QDOS/SMSQE programs? I have a 16GB type 10 which I could use as an extra drive, but that seems overkill, so I am going to buy a 4GB one instead. I note that the card ...

Re: Q68 New users and general usage thread

Many thanks.

I won't be running SMSQ on this particular card, but I should still be able to format it. I did wonder about FSUTIL, but I assumed perhaps incorrectly that the file had to have some sort of header in it, even before being available to the Q68.

Re: Q68 New users and general usage thread

I did a search, but seemed to come up short on this query.

With regard to the Q68 and creating QLWA file system containers - how do I do this in a 64 bit Windows environment? I don't mind dropping to the command line to run something.

I looked at the tools for QL-SD, and tools for creating virtual ...

UK: 240V 5V
EU: 240V 5V
USA: 110V 5V
Rest of World: No idea of the mains electricity in every country.

Too many options.
Yes I know Derek. There have not yet been damages by wrong supply, no major problem.

Maybe it would be an option to offer a USB to 2.1 mm cable, so people can use USB style ...

Re: ED diskettes...

It also supports all the enhanced floppy stuff - not that there is any QL software around to make use of that I don't think.

What is the "enhanced floppy stuff" ?

I'm glad you asked - I have no idea ! :-) (well not much of an idea) Still trying to find out exactly what this is and what it does ...

Re: ED diskettes...

Many thanks Richard - I will have to have a good look there after lunch - that's a much more reasonable price.

I wasn't going to look at floppies, but it seemed to be a good choice to make that interface available on my build, as it's a 1 chip solution (not including rom or decoding). The chip I ...

ED diskettes...

I aquired a ps/2 drive yesterday - which needs some reworking of the cable to make it work with a QL interface supporting such drvies - but I was looking through my large stash of floppies and it appears i have foolishly let my box of ED diskettes go along with my gold card some time ago.

Does ...

Re: Q68 New users and general usage thread

Brrings an interesting thought though...

Is there any protection on the 5V input against over voltage or reverse voltage?

It is a very real possiblity, given that the input socket is a standard format, and there are any number of 5v, 6v, 9v and 12+v supplies out there...
