Ok... Here's the deal: I just looked at the manual of the Microperipherals interface/drives. It's actually the 6-pin din that is meant for the psu and the 5-pin din for the second drive (I had the impression that it was the opther way around). Yes, I was planning on a diy molex-to-DIN8 -adapterYes, although you will still need a lead to convert a 5.25" power connector to a floppy disk power connector..

I'll get me a 5v psu and do a somple test with the drive(s). I'll report back here asap!

Ok, that's what I was afraid of. It means I have to get two separate psus for the drives. I really don't think a standard atx psu is an elegant option, sorry.

I opened up the Microperipherals 1. drive and both yellow (5v?) and red (12v?) are connected (see attached image). Should I be able to use the drive with only 5 volts then? Sorry for being a pitaTrue for standard 3.5" drives.

Another tip: as I assembled for my QL a double disk-drive system, for power supply I used a small wall-block psu with 5 volt output that is the only voltage needed by disk drives: I cut out from an old PC power supply two floppy drive power plugs and I used it to create a new psu :D It works fine ...
