I haven’t tried to do much so far as you obviously can’t use QIMSI etc with it, so need to try it with a Floppy Controller

Yes, I have a Tyche in a real QL
But it’s using a chr$ Rom board which may not be what you mean

Solved!
I did the flash update without any improvement, but as I was about to open it up again to check the continuity of the button press I realised the knob was at a slight angle
So I opened it up, made a very minor adjustment to the case so it fits thru easier and now it seems to be working ...

Over the times of flashfloppy development, some earlier firmwares had issues with some rotary encoders. I think what I'm pointing to, is make sure the firmware is recent.

I purchased 10 off DSDD 720K Floppies and I could only format a couple of them, and they were very temperamental
Then I realised I'd set the config to 80 tracks per side, but only 40 in total for the disk (though this actually was a bit of a red herring) so corrected that, still no joy ...

If I remember correctly you will need a tape/tape image to make the boot floppy unless you already have one or an image thereof!
I don't think the Opus needed some sort of boot floppy. All went from ROM, there. That was the +D Disk interface (Miles Gordon Technologies) that needed boot ...
