Very sad news. Hopefully his ideas and innovative mind will inspire others. And definitely, his computers will outlive him for generations to come. Sinclair ZX Spectrum clone was my first computer, which introduced me not only to games but to tinkering, programming and love for hardware.

Re: Q68 Order Process
Peter, I would be really interested to run NetBSD (I am using it on daily basis and even became a dev recently). Not sure though, how difficult it would be to port the system. But I guess that would also mean a new board is required?.

Re: SMSQ/E sources - mirror git repository
Obviously, holding the sources in now 3 (!) different places (it is absolutely not clear to me why it needs to be on GitHub twice, btw) holds the danger of splitting SMSQ/E development into various branches, especially when people don't know where the master is stored. I don't even dare to think ...

Re: Q68 New users and general usage thread
Thank you for the answers. I have found working combination in the end. It seems splitter connection became loose when I was reattaching devices constantly. Plus I connected devices in opposite ports in the last unsuccessful try. Generally PS/2 mouse and keyboard works for me now. Even one older USB ...

Re: Q68 New users and general usage thread
I am still having issues to find any mouse working with splitter supplied. Initially I thought it is because I have used USB to ps/2 adapter, but yesterday I tested setup with keyboard and mouse both having cord with PS/2 connector. If mouse is connected, Q68 halts at ROM loader (I guess by trying ...

Re: 68060 based QL system?
Fantasies?
Ok.
Now I'm pissed off.
Sorry, I didn't mean to piss you off.
It could be SMSQ on Q68 or RISC OS on ARM (their preferred route) or etc, and you could recognize that in this environment, Q68/SMSQ is not ill-suited.
A full 68060 would be.
And that was the point of my line of ...

Re: 68060 based QL system?
Dave, I am a bit confused that you are considering Q68 or even QL software for some serious "commercial" projects when the world moved on so far these days both in software and hardware (I believe it should be more than enough options for embedded development, even non linux ones, something like ...

Very sad news. After all he designed most of the iconic Sinclair computers and they really look beautiful after many years... Condolences to the family.

Re: Talent Graphics Toolkit
I changed those - they are NOT supposed to appear in the listing as CTRL+SHIFT+6 etc but as the actual character symbols you get (on QDOS) by pressing those key combinations - otherwise it makes no sense, as you do not press CTRL+SHIFT+6 to move up a menu, but the up cursor key.
I realized that ...
