If I try and format a floppy disk in the ql it will sound like it is doing it but says format failed at the end.
I found a website which had a ql disk image which I have placed on a floppy via my greaseweazle using flash my fluffy floppy and if I search ...

I did order some new memory thinking that it was a possibility what was wrong but on looking at the replys to my request one stated he thought IC21 was at fault so I ordered a replacement and did socket it as why would you not as if it failed now why would it not fail in the future.

sorry to be a pain but is there or could you let me have a little bit of a walkthrough on how to do this in windows as I have looked at qltools but as I am an Idiot I cant work out how to transfer the files an Idiot guide would be much appreciated.

I have replaced IC 21 today and all is good and now working fine It is a shame that I did not replace it before I ordered the replacement ram but it might come in useful in the future.
I would like to thank all those who have took the time to try and help me I would not have been able to get it ...

Don't worry about the top pin of rom 1 when I removed the rom for checking the leg fell off so I had to do a bodge on it but I am now using the minerva rom.

Would it be worth getting some more ram chips first and try piggy back a few chips to maybe save some unsoldering and if that fails which chips would it be worth changing first to try and get the minerva memory check to work.

Bit the bullet and replaced the cpu socket It's booting up as before so I think everything went OK.

I do have a vacuum desolder and a hot air station I am not the best at soldering so fingers crossed it s there anything to watch out for when doing it,

I have took all the seated chips out and gave them a quick clean a few days ago so today I was going to have another look at the sockets but as I tried to pull the cpu out I have broken the top of the socket so will need to replace that in the next couple of days before I can try anything else.
